back in the saddle
Hello faithful blog readers. My, but hasn't it been a long time since I posted! Since you heard from me last, I have:
1) Graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BA in Journalism (Magna Cum Laude, I might add).
2) Started working at my first newspaper, the Richmond Register.
3) Painted my bedroom robin's egg blue.
4) Met a cool guy to hang out with.
I am, as always, still very active in the single's ministry at Victory Baptist Church. I love the people in that group so much!
I will be participating in a 5K run on Saturday in Lexington (Midsummer Night's Run) with my roommate, Andrea.
Can I say that I love my job? Things are really great here...I am learning new things about reporting every day and have a very experienced cops reporter for a boss. He is happy to teach me all the tricks of the trade and is very patient with me. The other reporters here are really cool and fun to work with. We enjoy giving each other a hard time and share a very similar sense of humor.
I have written stories about black smiths, criminals, basket weavers, historical artifacts, book signings and all manner of other items. Every day that I come in to work, I have no clue what I will be writing about, whom I will meet or what the next day's paper will look like.
I've been here for nearly 2 months now, and it's been nice to have people start to recognize me.
"Hey, aren't you that girl from the Register? I like your stuff..."
The town is very small and quaint and I am happy to be working here.
