Paducah this past weekend was...well...weird. Even the stragglers of the past few years are gone. Nearly everyone I know is either pregnant, married, divorced, engaged, or some weird combination of the aforementioned. It's pretty strange to think of what different paths our lives have all taken. I got to see Amanda Dycus downtown on Saturday night and let me tell you, she was a sight for sore eyes. She has love written all over her and I even got to meet the guy responsible for it all. Amanda and I talked for nearly two hours about what we've been into since we last saw each other and what our plans for the future are. She told me that she thought England had "solidified" me. I was quite flattered and it was so nice to see her. She's one of those friends who has been a part of my life since middle school and I'd definately kick anyone's butt who broke her heart. No messing with my girls. The same goes for Val, Rach, and Erin. Consider yourselves protected.
I also got to see Bryan Garner and Big Dave...two of my best guy friends from high school. They were both doing quite well and I enjoyed catching up with them and laughing about old jokes.
I drove up to Lake Washington (about 5 minutes from the house) today and sat out on the end of the longest pier and wrote in my journal for a long time. It's peaceful to just sit and listen to the fish jump around and feel the wind across your face.
As I get older (I'm staring 21 down in just a few days) I feel my life begin to speed up. When I was in high school, the days dragged by and I NEVER thought I'd be finished with school. PCC days seemed to take an eternity...I remember never thinking I'd actually leave Paducah. Now look at me. Things are speeding up at an alarming rate. I'll probably be thirty years old next week. It seems like every time I stop to think about it, several more weeks have gone by. I'm not sure if this phenomenon has a name, but I'll just call it "oh my gosh I'm getting old too fast" syndrome. You know what I'm talking about.
